A Few Words
About Us
FamBam stands for Bonding moments with family and friends. It is a community to support parents in Kaohsiung and beyond through their parenthood journey. We aim to provide a social and support network for parents through a variety of parenting resources, including useful information on daily life with children, regular meetings, events, and practical advice.
We are an English-speaking community, but our members come from near and far with a whole set of different experiences and backgrounds. One thing unites us all though: being parents and giving our best to raise our children.
They say that it takes a village to raise a child and we could not agree more. We want to be a part of your village by making it easier on you to make informed choices and have more fun with your children.
The beginning of FamBam
The idea of FamBam was born a while back, when Tanja moved from Tokyo to Kaohsiung in September 2020; In the middle of the Corona pandemic, with her two small children, 2,5 and 6 months at the time. Coming from Tokyo, where information about all matters parenthood and children was readily available in English, it turned out not to be as straight forward in Kaohsiung. Fortunately, the local community welcomed Tanja and her family with open arms, helpful advice and support, making the arrival so much easier. Fact remained that there was no centralized platform to regroup all the bits and bites of information around and missed not only by Tanja, but also many around her. A gap to be filled!
With a various background in communication, marketing, event and community management as well as fitness trainer, the task of putting together a website and community platform of this size was, admittingly, intimidating. When Tanja met Eula, a fellow parent and a software engineer by profession, the ball got rolling. FamBam: A platform from parents for parents gathering all the information around parenthood in Kaohsiung and Taiwan and offering a place to meet and connect with fellow parents in the area. Needless to say, that Eula had a crucial role in bringing this baby into the world and onto your phones and computers. Fast forward a couple of months and FamBam – The community for parents in Taiwan is going live!
We are very excited to continue this crazy, but beautiful journey of parenthood together with you and to build a community platform that serves us all!

Our Vision
FamBam Beyond kaohsiung
Being based in Kaohsiung, supporting the community around us is dear to our hearts and the starting point of our journey with FamBam.
In the first phase we will mainly offer information for Kaohsiung as well as focusing on events in that area. But we keep in mind that so many more parents could use a comprehensive support and information platform and we thus keep in mind to expand to other cities in Taiwan too. Meet The Team
I'm the Editor-in-Chief
Tanja
Originally from Luxembourg, Tanja spent 5 years in Tokyo, Japan, before moving to Kaohsiung with her family in September 2020. In Tokyo, Tanja was an active part of the parent community around her, giving birth and raising two children in a foreign country with no traditional support system. She was also co-owner and trainer at Mom in Balance Tokyo, specialising in pregnant and postpartum fitness. She learned first-hand herself, but also through her friends and clients, how important it is for your social, but also mental well-being to have a support system that you can rely on. Passionate about supporting other parents, through access to information, and bringing parents and their bubs together, Tanja wants to create a safe space where parents can feel supported, understood and finding the help they need to be the best possible parent.
I'm the Administrator
Eulalei
From the Philippines, Eula and her first daughter joined her husband here in Kaohsiung in September 2017. Living as an expat was never easy, not to mention it was the first time. The struggle of adjusting to the new environment, the variety of foods, language barriers and limited social interaction were too much to handle. Eula has high hopes the Fambam community can help new families to alleviate these struggles by providing basic information about the lifestyle, what's in and out of the city, sharing family- friendly travel spots, mouth-watering food all in one site. Eula believes in a quote originally from Ann Douglas, if it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to support that child’s parent as well. Let’s make this community a haven for every family in Kaohsiung.
